site specific sound performance Thursday, 02.04.2026 | Edition 2 Funkhaus, Argentinierstraße 30B Open Studios 17:30 Performances 19:30 SONIC GROUNDS is an experimental music format that combines site-specific concerts, performances and open studios. Each edition is developed in dialogue with the distinctive architecture of the Funkhaus and explores music as an open, process-based practice. The series brings together NeverAtHome’s in-house artists with local and international musicians, creating new encounters between different artistic positions. The second edition opens with a solo performance by pianist and composer Julian Bazzanella and his project –BREATH please BREATH–, which creates intimate soundscapes between indie folk and minimalist classical music. His practice is strongly rooted in improvisation and unfolds in the moment. The evening continues with recorder player Dora Donata Sammer, known for her unconventional concert programs. In From Imitation to Illusion to Irritation, she explores the sonic possibilities of the recorder, challenging expectations of the instrument through a dialogue between historical performance practice and contemporary music. Both performances are accompanied by Analog Visuals Vienna (Denny Voch and Viktoria Sigl), who create live analog projections using overhead projectors, liquids, colors and materials. Their visuals generate shifting images, shadows and moiré effects, forming a visual layer that interacts with the music in real time.
